Bursaries for artist groups
Would you be interested in applying for this as part of Frome Creative Network??
NAN is launching a new one-off bursary for 2011 with a sustainability focus.
NAN Futurific! bursaries are artist-led, peer-reviewed bursaries, focusing on supporting the long-term sustainability of artists' groups and artist-led networks in the UK
Although "sustainability" is increasingly used to describe ways in which culture should be organised and funded, artists are not always part of this important dialogue. NAN believes that artists should be at the forefront of this debate and have access to the necessary resources to take part in the research and development processes central to long-term planning for our economic, environmental and social future.
Futurific! bursaries complement the NAN Go and See bursaries, supporting new ways for artists to think about networking by looking at:
* What creative approaches can be used to ensure the future of artist-led initiatives
* How economic, environmental and social changes affect the way artists work together
NAN bursaries aims reflect NAN's mission that is: "to promote the aspirations of artists and the development of practice through peer dialogue and exchange."
Additional aims for this bursary are:
* To support the long term sustainability of artist-led initiatives in economic, environmental and social terms.
* To ensure cooperation, good practice, mutual support and professionalism in artist-led initiatives
* To allow artists time and opportunity to think and act beyond their usual activities
Examples of projects that may be funded include - but are not limited to - projects to research alternative income or value-exchange streams; feasibility to secure long term access to space or resources for an artist led initiative; identifying partnerships that might reduce overheads; exploring strategies for engaging a community in supporting an artist-led activity; research towards increasing environmental sustainability.
